Glen Head

The hamlet of Glen Head lies about 25 miles east of Manhattan in the town of Oyster Bay on Long Island's North Shore. Nearby towns include Sea Cliff to the north, Old Brookville to the east, Roslyn to the west and Greenvale to the south. Along with its neighbors, Glen Head is considered part of the North Shore's Gold Coast, a glittering enclave of wealth in the early-to mid-20th century, home to impressive mansions, some of which date back to the Revolutionary War. The area is still known for its affluence and upscale suburban lifestyle today.

Glen Head is known for being less exclusive with more of a community feel than some of its affluent North Shore gold coast neighbors, though top-rated schools and a picturesque downtown keep home prices fairly high. A variety of home styles can be found here, though most are single-family. The options range from colonials and Cape Cods to ranch style and split-level homes in subdivisions. Larger homes can be found in more exclusive Old Brookville. Many of the town's homes date back to the 1920s.

Residents can enjoy golf at several nearby country clubs; picturesque historic areas as well as beaches, parks and nature preserves are within a short drive. There are plenty of shopping opportunities on Glen Cove Road and at the Station Plaza shopping center, and some of the area's largest retail destinations are a short drive away. The large Broadway Mall is a few miles to the south, in Hicksville, and just three miles to the west is Manhasset's Miracle Mile, offering department stores and popular chain shops like Lord & Taylor and Ann Taylor. There are also plenty of dining choices like Kiraku and the Fishery Grill
